Change-when??

As soon as I got seated in Cab I could smell the strong pungent cigarette smell of earlier passenger. I felt suffocated and immediately had to get down. Daily when I travel by road I can see the marks of betel leaves chewed and thrown under metros and flyovers here and there.Yuck..Can't this space be more fruitfully utilised for plantations and small green spaces. The other day while watching movie at multiplex every now and then the small clip was playing showing harmful effects of tobacco and cancer it causes. I really wonder when it is so harmful why not ban it completely? Why do innocent people have to suffer because of few who can’t quit their habit???

The other day a passenger boarded flight and was seated at just a row behind me. He seemed to had lots of drinks just prior to boarding and kept on talking in high pitch nonsense nonstop for 2 hours. Same has been the experience even in railway AC coaches. Who is going to preach civic sense always amongst educated lot who behave in such irrational way??

While driving most of the pedestrians are seen walking on crowded roads. Reason being footpaths being encroached by hawkers, fruits and food stalls. Half of road is occupied by vehicles parked on both sides, then these pedestrians. I wonder how we are expected to drive and how we can reach on time anywhere. How much and how consistently can the government clear the encroachments? Do primary traffic rules not expect us to use footpaths and not the roads for walking to ensure safety of one and all??

There are several internal roads where there are no proper provisions for crossings made .If we wish to cross and wave for vehicles to slow down a bit, hardly some bother to wait. This is really irritating when kids or aged are accompanying us. Does civic sense not require giving preference to aged and small???

How often do we see proper garbage disposal bins alongside roads and at public places? Where are we expected to throw the garbage while we are outside our homes??At some places garbage bins are there but they are so over flooded that it is impossible to think to go near them to dispose off any garbage.

Do we have enough public washrooms /restrooms? In cities like metros where travelling can take hours how should common people manage in absence of proper washrooms at intervals? Thanks to shopping malls and restaurants this problem is addressed to some extent but still the question persists for common man on a large scale.

Mumbai is a very safe place for all working women. But does this mean we don't have to worry??Even in broad daylight we cannot stand comfortable for long time on roadside or at public places. Most of the ladies experience this discomfort while waiting for cabs/autos under metro bridges or at stops. Even in crowded lifts many times people find way to annoy single woman. It is not that such notorious people will harm directly but indirectly sense of insecurity or discomfort still creeps at some point or another.

What's the purpose of playing DJ's on national festivals or for that matter any festivals/events throughout the day and at late nights??Why should there be necessity of complaining for loudspeakers to authorities??Can't people play music for their own purpose limited to their own areas and for limited time??

The list of such complaints seems endless on some frustrating days while some days just pass by adjusting without questioning to come what may.

I guess till the time education reaches the very grass root level, educated become civilized in real sense, people start shouldering responsibility with governing bodies we can't expect much to change around us. We can just keep on trying and doing our parts in tits and bits.
