Being inclusive

Being Inclusive -Madhura Lathkar

"Why do we need to learn patralekhan in Hindi when we are using emails in English?"my middle school daughter argued as I pursued her for studying for the ongoing school exams.I remember I had the same question after my boards.I loved maths, chemistry and biology but somehow physics made my head spin. There was no way I could skip that subject if I opted for science stream.Eventually I took decision of pursuing commerce giving up on science altogether. But this is not always possible in life.

In life, everything comes as a bundle. For instance buffet meal may have 16 things our favourite and other 4 which we ignore just to enjoy the balance spread. The residential society where we stay .We can't choose who the residents or neighbour's would be.At workplace there may be people we need to ignore focusing on work looking at bigger picture.Or the city we live like Mumbai. It has so many positives to offer but we can't skip the humidity and the crowd everywhere.

We need to be inclusive if we have to grow and I guess this training starts from school itself.Just that making kids aware that everything is essential and has a role to play is a challenging task for sure.
