Brownie delight

Where most of the households in India generally make sooji ka halwa ,in our household since childhood atte ka halwa what we also lovingly call as brown halwa, has always been the favourite.The trick is that it should turn brown without getting burnt and unlike normal halwa it is prepared with cold water.So it takes a lot of practice to master the timing and art .I have a sweet tooth and most of my favourites like gulab jam,mohanthaal brownie,chocolates are brown in colour.

Over the years made so many friends and chocolates have always been an integral part in bonding with friends.So many fights or arguments have got resolved with a chocolate instantly.Many wonderful moments cherished with chocolates always.Even today a dairy milk instantly brings a smile and makes my day.

So brown has unknowingly came to be associated with sweetness in my life.

I was in 4th grade and joined a new school. There was a function at our school in noon.I was to enact a role of teacher and had to wear a saree.That day mom was busy with my small brother and I went to school like usual days riding a cycle wearing a new brown frock stitched by my mom.She has specially picked up the cloth- dark brown with small white flowers printed for me and turned it into a pretty dress as per my liking.I reached school with a saree in bag and keeping all inhibitions aside went up to a high school teacher and requested her to drape me the saree on frock for the play.She was amused and quite impressed and lovingly helped me.This incident and the brown dress are special because it was my first independent step as a kid where I was not affected that I am alone.I was focused on the play and enjoyed it thoroughly.

In Maharashtrian weddings,bride is expected to wear yellow saree during specific rituals.But when I went shopping I couldn't take my mind off from a particular dark brown saree .I convinced everyone and wore the same during rituals instead of yellow one.So this colour has some special memories attached to it.

When I see plants and trees around,brown the colour of soil (symbolizing mother earth) reminds me to be grounded and connected to the roots where I belong.It is a daily reminder to remain strong and firm in all situations.Colour of sandalwood it symbolizes purity too.And thats the reason people who are reliable and trustworthy always feel like brown colour to me

Colours colours everywhere,

Sometimes promoting peace sometimes motivating to dare,

Be dependable and trustworthy brown colour always says,

Talk sweetly and like sandalwood spread fragrance on every way,

Brown is the colour of the ground,

Keeping everything stable and sound.
