On the Line

I was at the emergency ward of a multi-specialty hospital for sometime recently and the variety of cases being handled there stirred me .A man who had chest pain suddenly,an old lady who had stopped responding to her daughter,a girl bitten by a street dog ,a small boy who had felt from stairs and fractured his hand. The doctors and nurses were attending them as per level of criticality. And a question popped up - Are we truly aware of the uncertainties surrounding us 24*7?

The heartbeat line or lifeline is one line deciding our entire existence in this moment.Whenever I see insurance ads I wonder are we really ready to listen to the side of story they are trying to convey us.

After that visit to emergency ward I felt that we all dream, work ,plan for so many things but do we acknowledge the fact that we are all living on a line.

We all are dealing with multiple lines - Line of truth, line of trust, line of courage, line of responsibility, line of control or to say line of life. Most of us wish to balance everything and live a sorted life but is that always possible?

We are not convinced with some choice our dear friend or family member is making. We neither wish to support nor wish to hurt them.Or a few elements are disturbing the peace of vicinity you are staying in.Are you ready to take a strong stand and resolve the issue or keep ignoring it considering it safe not to bother much.An office colleague has confided you with his or her personal issues and HR needs your opinion on his or her declining performance review.Would you share the other side story with HR.

When I go through stories posted on social media , the harsh conditions and tough decisions to be taken, to be simply happy and peaceful in life,I wonder is it really possible for every human being to stay on one side of the line.A woman not happy with her married life, a man feeling trapped in his current organisation due to pay package,a woman not considered for promotion due to pregnancy,a child indulging in drugs to escape peer pressure so on and so forth.

The question every time is about whether you wish to cross that line of social security, financial security, social acceptance, morality, ethics and make choice for your well being.

At the end of day only life line matters. All other lines are man created. We need to cross them or erase them in case need arises to find our true calling and be healthy and happy.

I need to save,my kid needs to be all rounder,I need to look good,My house needs to be spic and span,I need to excel at workplace,we need to travel to foreign destinations,I need to be multitasker, our family needs to closely knit,we need to abide by sanskaars,we have so many thoughts going on at the same time.If we closely observe very few are truly connected to our well being and happiness .Others are mostly imposed by societal norms.

What is right for you may be wrong for others, what is suitable for you may be improper or inadequate for someone else, your preference or priority may not match with someone else.Every individual is different ,every story is different and so are the choices to be made.Yes we all wish to be happy, make our loved ones happy,we wish to be healthy, wealthy and wise. But all these are individualistic choices.

On my recent trip to snow clad mountains, soon after that visit to hospital, I danced and played to my hearts content as if no one else was there around.I have made a conscious choice to live in every moment not worrying much about what would be served on my life's plate in future.I need to be true to my soul calling so as to live a fulfilled life ,do things which I truly believe in,say what I feel and don't shy away from saying NO without being afraid of hurting people . The line of life is defined by Supreme Power but we can define how we tread on it and make the most of every breath we are endowed with.
